Shift your Mindset


I love motivational catchphrases.

Just do it! You’ve got this! Let it go.

They sound so simple. And it feels so good when we say them.

Then reality sets in.

I’m not Michael Jordan.

No, I don’t have this.

And just let it go? Umm, no, not yet.

But does it have to be all or nothing? What if, instead of all-out, we tried marginally better?

Rather than, Just do it! How about ‘Just Try It?’ Ask yourself, if you don’t even try, what might you be missing out on?

Instead of, You’ve got this! Tell yourself, it’s the journey, not the destination. It’s going to be ok even if I don’t do well.

And rather than, Let it go, ask yourself, ‘What is one advantage to keeping hold of this?’ Then decide if it’s worth it.

It doesn’t have to be all or nothing. Even small changes to our mindset can have positive impacts.
